TranslaTodo Spanish/English was designed specifically for anyone wanting to learn or communicate in Spanish or English while on the go. Available only on BREW-enabled handsets, TranslaTodo Spanish/English provides a mobile Spanish-to-English and English-to-Spanish dictionary with over 5,000 words and more than 1,000 useful phrases and a verb conjugator for over 1,000 Spanish and English regular and irregular verbs. “The BREW platform’s functionality and flexibility has enabled us to quickly develop a high-quality, user-friendly language tool,” said Aaron Isaksen, president and CEO of AppAbove, Inc. “The BREW system has been a one-stop shop for our team – enabling us to conceptualize, design, develop, test, deploy and sell our applications in just a few short months, freeing us up to focus entirely on the creation of creative content to promote communication and knowledge.” The application can be used in a variety of situations: ordering at a restaurant, giving instructions at home, asking for directions, traveling on vacation, visiting the doctor’s office, getting car repairs or doing homework. The full-color bilingual user interface developed and implemented by AppAbove provides a clear and easy way to access the information for both native Spanish and English speakers. TranslaTodo Spanish/English categorizes words and phrases by subject, indicates words in masculine and feminine forms and defines words with multiple meanings. “AppAbove’s TranslaTodo Spanish/English application is a strong addition to the growing library of educational content being developed for the BREW platform,” said Mike Yuen, director, BREW Developer Relations, QUALCOMM Internet Services. “AppAbove has focused on the advantages of a handset’s mobility to provide a useful service to a wide range of users, from students to tourists to business professionals.” The dictionary and phrases used in TranslaTodo Spanish/English were carefully compiled and authored by Alexandra F. Falek, a Spanish language instructor and Ph.D. graduate student from the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at New York University.
